Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis

(NASH) is a more severe stage

of NAFLD with inflammation

and liver damage. NASH can

progress to cirrhosis, which is

fibrosis or scarring of the liver

or liver cancer. 20% to 50% of

teenagers with NAFLD also

have NASH.
